reports that Khan recently attended the Marathi comedy show Chala Hava Yeu Dya where he talked about what he relishes in Marathi music, cinema and delicacies. Fresh off from gorging on the seekh kebabs cooked by his mother on his birthday, Aamir chose misal pav as his favourite Maharashtrian delicacy.
He also listed his favourite films from Marathi cinema – Ravi Jadhav’s 2010 film Natrang, Nagraj Manjule’s 2013 film Fandry and the romantic blockbuster from last year, Sairat. He also crooned the song ‘Apsara Aali‘ from Natrang, much to the pleasant surprise of everyone on the sets of the show, including the host Nilesh Sable.
It was then that he announced that he is looking forward to working in Marathi cinema which has been churning out some brilliant films lately. He is learning the language and will be fluent once he starts working in a Marathi film or produces one.
Recently, Khan made his wife and filmmaker Kiran Rao lend her voice to a Marathi song for the second edition of his initiative, Satayamev Jayate Water Cup. News 18 reports that the music video was directed by Manjule and the song composed by the music director duo Ajay-Atul.
The same report quotes Rao as saying, “I was made to sing the song on my husband’s diktat. I had fun working with Ajay-Atul and Nagraj. I was nervous in the studio but Ajay and Atul encouraged me to sing. It was my dream to work with Nagraj. In an interview too I was asked is there any director I want to work with and I said Nagraj. My dream came true so I have to thank my husband.”
